This design is my interpretation of a traditional Iban design. The Ibans are one of the indigenous races of Borneo and their artwork  can be seen adorning many traditional items.The central motif is hand appliquéd using the reverse appliqué method using a multi-dyed print batik fabric on a black hand dyed batik background with a burgundy batik fabric for the border.  The  design is machine quilted using different threads, the central motif is outline quilted and then the background is stippled with silk cotton thread with meander quilting and cotton thread in the border.
